Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) has been the vision of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Govt. of India, to launch ‘ONE INDIA ONE EMERGENCY NUMBER 112’, as a nationwide, unified emergency response system with a single emergency number ‘112’, for reporting and addressing all kinds of emergencies from across the country.
ERSS-112 is successfully deployed as the State-centric system, receiving distress calls from citizen over 10 different channels (Voice Call, SMS, SOS, Email, Web Request, Chatbot, Media Crawler, IoT-based Signals, WhatsApp and External Signals), on a common platform (hardware + software) setup in the ‘Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP)’ of the State / UT. Genuine, actionable calls from citizen on the ‘Call-Taking System’ are forwarded with complete incident data to a ‘Dispatcher’ of Police / Health / Fire / Disaster / Women / Children / Railways helpline system for further actions.
The ’Computer Aided Dispatch’ system of these services are in continuous touch with respective rescue vehicles / field officers / channel partners to reach out the incident location and offer assistance within golden hours. The entire process is guided and monitored over a digital Geographic Information System (GIS) map-based dispatch terminals. Emergency Response Units (ERUs) tracking and communication is facilitated with Mobile Data Terminals mounted on them.
