UT Division is responsible for matters pertaining to the management of the Union Territories (except Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh), Delhi Police and AGMUT cadre in all Union Territories. In addition, this Division is responsible for the following:
- Legislative matters
- Services (AGMUT Cadre and DANICs/DANIPs Cadre) [including Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh]
- Administrative Affairs
- Development Works
- Monitoring of major flagship schemes of various Ministries being implemented in all Union Territories.
Constitutional Status:
The Union Territories are specified in Part-11 of the First Schedule to the Constitution of India. These territories are administered under the provisions of Articles 239 to 241 of the Constitution of India. Under the Government of India (Allocation of Business) Rules, 1961, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is the nodal Ministry for all matters of UTs relating to legislation, finance and budget, services, and appointment of Lieutenant Governors (LGs) and Administrators
Constitutional Status:
Every UT is administered by an Administrator appointed by the President under Article 239 of the Constitution of India
