The Judicial Division primarily deals with the following matters:-
• Bills for assent of the President under Article 201 of the Constitution,
• Ordinances for instructions under Proviso to clause 1 of Article 213,
• Bills for previous sanction of the President as required under proviso to Article 304(b) of the Constitution,
• Regulations framed by the Governors and reserved for the assent of the President,
• Legislative aspects of the Commissions of Inquiry Act, 1952, .
• Matters relating to the former rulers of Indian States and their families arising out of the abolition of Privy Purse and privileges
• Legislative aspects of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 (Indian Penal Code, 1860) and the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023 (Code of Criminal Procedure,1973); Parliamentary matters and other miscellaneous clarifications on these Codes.
• Petitions for mercy, pardon, remission and reprieve etc. under Article 72 of the Constitution of India.
• Proposals for Sanctions for prosecution under section 208 of BNSS, 2023 (Section 188 of CrPC, 1973).
• Proposals for premature release under section 477 of BNSS (Section 435 of CrPC, 1973).
▪ Proposals for withdrawal from prosecution under Section 360 of the BNSS, 2023( Section 321 of CrPC, 1973).
